Supporting the Broomhouse Community for more than 20 years

The Community One Stop Shop (COSS) was set up in 2002 to alleviate the effects of poverty and hardship in the South West Edinburgh neighbourhood of Broomhouse and surrounding areas.

Whether you need to use our services for help with a one off situation, or are a more regular visitor, our team of staff and volunteers are here to welcome the community with a friendly face and a listening ear.

Our offices are open between 9.30am-2.30pm Monday to Thursday, and 9.30-11.30am on Fridays. We are also open between 5pm-7.30pm on Wednesdays.

Advice

Our advice workers support our clients with a range of issues including; income maximisation, benefit claims and appeals, housing, tax credits and council tax.

Foodbank

Our foodbank operates on a non-referral basis, meaning that anyone who is in financial crisis is welcome to make use of the service.

The Pantry

The Pantry operates on a membership basis. Following a co-operative model, members pay a fee which enables them to purchase a number of items each week at a heavily subsidised rate.

Employability

We offer assistance to people who are looking to find employment or further education and training, either for the first time, or returning to the workforce after a break.

Fuel Bank

COSS works in partnership with Fuel Bank Foundation to distribute Fuel Bank Vouchers. These vouchers are for people who have a pre-payment meter and are at risk of disconnection. We do not issue the vouchers ourselves, but will process the application on your behalf.

Community

We hold regular events to promote community spirit which have recently included a trip to Blair Drummond Safari Park, an afternoon tea and an Easter egg giveaway.
